BMI Calculator

Your body-mass index ("BMI") measures your height/weight ratio. Compute it by dividing your weight by the square of your height.

People with BMIs between 19 and 22 live longest. Death rates are noticeably higher for people with indexes 30 and above. Surgery is indicated above 35 kilos/meter2.

To figure your BMI, enter your height and weight in the boxes below, and then click "calculate". You must enter your height in feet and inches, and your weight in pounds.

Note: your browser must support Javascript, or this will not work.

Also note: if you are exactly 5 feet or 6 feet tall, put a 0 in the inches box. The result is "infinity" if you leave the inches box empty.
